Obverse: Features Jesus Christ upon the cross below the initials I.N.R.I. for the Latin phrase "Iesus Nazareneus Rex Iudaeorum" meaning "Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews" as he wore the crown of thorns. To the right is the metal weight and purity along with the coat of arms of Niue, the official issuing body for this coin.

Reverse: Depicts Jesus illuminated by rays of light as he is transfigured. To his left and right are Elijah and Moses while Peter, James, John and other onlookers marvel at the scene. Above reads "Transfiguration of Jesus."
